Miep Gies fell and died. "Every day I feel sorry" – she said before her death, thinking of Anne Frank and the other people she hid during World War II. She preserved Anne Frank's diary and after the war handed it over for publication. In 1996, the Queen of the Netherlands knighted her for her proven courage.
The play follows Miep Gies at the moment of her fall on the floor of a Dutch nursing home after a century of life. In the time between losing her balance and her head hitting the ground, we return with her to those years – when people hunt people, and ordinary life and ordinary gestures become something entirely, entirely different.
