Choir of Monks by Candlelight
Koszalin Philharmonic named after Stanisław Moniuszko, Poland
Medieval form. Contemporary sound.
Choir of Monks by Candlelight is a chamber concert featuring 6 vocalists in monastic robes, performed by candlelight with tall candelabras and austere decorations. The lighting gradually changes from piece to piece. Seating is limited.
The programme includes sacred and meditative music — Dies Iræ, Ave Maria, Bogurodzica, Amazing Grace, Pie Jesu, Adiemus — as well as arrangements of well-known works: Sound of Silence, Hallelujah, Nothing Else Matters, and soundtracks Time from Inception, Lux Aeterna from Requiem for a Dream, and Now We Are Free from Gladiator. The programme will also feature Polish compositions and additional pieces that the organizer keeps as a surprise.
Organizer: Royal Tributes.
*The concert is not religious in character — it draws inspiration from ancient chant and the aesthetics of the sacred purely as a musical and cultural form.
