PAINTING THE SOUL OF THE 20TH CENTURY: PELLIZZA DA VOLPEDO - ART BEATS

The film tells the life story of Giuseppe Pellizza (1868–1907), an outstanding Divisionist painter and author of the famous painting "The Fourth Estate". This masterpiece was first presented at the Quadriennale in Turin in 1902 and is now housed in the Milan Galleria d'Arte Moderna. Pellizza left his mark on art history not only as a master of colour and light, but also as an artist with an extraordinary ability to portray the human soul and society.

Fabrizio Bentivoglio ("The Rose Island", "Almost Ordinary Holidays") guides us through Pellizza's life and work. The cinematography and shots inspired by the palette of the Italian painter's works convey the artist's emotions and his vision of reality.

The narrative closes with a tragic ending: Pellizza's suicide in 1907, following the death of his beloved wife.
