Nana Rashid

Nana Rashid is a Danish-Zanzibari-Omani jazz vocalist whose work explores what it means to be human — in all its beauty, complexity, and sensitivity. Her voice, balancing Nordic calm with soulful intensity, creates intimate, emotionally charged concerts that are both timeless and deeply personal. In her compositions, strength meets fragility, silence meets truth, inviting listeners into a space where emotion becomes a genuine bond.

Winner of the Best New Jazz Artist of the Year award at the Danish Music Awards 2023, Rashid debuted with the album Music for Betty (April Records) — a record enthusiastically received by critics, blending Nordic melancholy, blues, and poetic narrative. Jazzwise magazine (★★★★) highlighted her "smoldering intensity," while Danish newspaper Politiken called her "an absolutely brilliant vocalist who clearly stands out on the Danish jazz scene."

Since then, the artist has performed throughout Scandinavia, Europe, and Asia, including a sold-out concert at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London and at prestigious festivals Jazz in Marciac (France) and Taichung Jazz Festival (Taiwan). She has also appeared on Danish national television and was invited as a guest to His Royal Majesty's Cultural Ball in 2024, solidifying her position as one of the most distinctive voices of Nordic jazz.

Currently, Nana Rashid is embarking on a new creative chapter and working on her next album New Ways to Pray, produced by Larry Klein (who has collaborated with Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, and Melody Gardot). The new project develops her sound toward a more spiritual and cinematic direction — becoming a bridge between continents, cultures, and the inner landscapes of the soul.
