Immanuel Wilkins Quartet
Klub Jassmine, Warsaw, Poland
188 zł
One of the most compelling voices in contemporary jazz, Immanuel Wilkins returns to Jassmine with his outstanding quartet to present material from his latest release, Live at the Village Vanguard, Vol. 1 – his first-ever concert recording.
Recorded at the legendary Village Vanguard, the album opens a three-part series documenting the quartet's extraordinary energy and sonic depth. It is music that is both intense and spiritual – balancing improvisation, collective dialogue, and an almost ritualistic experience of shared listening.
Joining Wilkins on stage are accomplished musicians: Micah Thomas (piano), Ryoma Takenaga (bass), and Kweku Sumbry (drums). Together they form one of the most exciting ensembles on the young jazz scene, exploring Wilkins' original compositions and reinterpretations, such as the moving "Charanam" by Alice Coltrane.
The quartet's music is a narrative full of harmonic tension, intricate rhythmic structures, and emotional depth. As critics emphasize, these are sounds that carry reflection, spirituality, and experience – both personal and universal.
