СОЮЗ (SOYUZ)
Klub Jassmine, Warsaw, Poland
129 zł
Soon at Jassmine, the band SOYUZ will perform again — one of the most unique projects on the contemporary jazz and MPB scene in Eastern Europe. The concert will be an opportunity to hear material from their latest album KROK — a record that has become the group's most personal and mature work.
The album's title means "step" in Belarusian and symbolizes the journey the band members have taken in recent years. Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine and intensifying political repression in Belarus, the musicians relocated to Warsaw, beginning a new chapter in their lives and creative work. This experience of change, uncertainty, and searching for a new home became the main inspiration for the band's leader, Alex Chumak, who for the first time began writing lyrics in his native language.
KROK is nine compositions balancing between melancholy and hope. SOYUZ's music defies simple definitions — it blends influences from jazz, folk, pop, and sounds from around the world, while maintaining a distinctly Eastern European character. The compositions feature subtle string and brass arrangements, a cinematic atmosphere, and meticulous attention to every detail.
The album was created between Warsaw, São Paulo, and Stockholm. Part of the material was recorded in Brazil with the participation of outstanding musicians connected to the local scene, but KROK is not a Brazilian record — it is an original, contemporary narrative about migration, memory, dreams, and the need for closeness.
