SZEPT / Siarhiej Leskiećz — An Incantation in One Act 16+ Rough and tender, prayerful and earthly. The creators take audiences on a journey into the world of Belarusian whisper-healers and wise women — women who healed through words, whispered over water, fire, and herbs. The starting point for this production was a nine-year research project by photographer and anthropologist Siarhiej Leskiećz. His photographs and field notes evolved into a book, an exhibition, and ultimately a theatrical work. "Szept" creates a ritual space on stage where each spectator becomes a witness to something sacred and hidden. All five whisper-healer characters are played by a single actress, embodying them in turn: elderly women who heal fear, cleanse with water, protect homes from lightning, or baptize the souls of unborn children. The red thread woven throughout the performance becomes simultaneously a sign of protection, a thread of life, and a path between past and present. Minimalist scenography, texts based on documentary accounts, and a richness of sound create an intense spiritual experience. It is a whisper that cannot be drowned out — because it flows from the depths.
