Tribute to Pharoah Sanders by Pradziad
Vertigo Jazz Club & Restaurant, Wrocław, Poland
50 zł
We invite you to an evening filled with emotional and bold compositions by one of jazz music's spiritual guides - Pharoah Sanders. This saxophonist, who passed away four years ago, blended modernity and tradition in his work, constantly drawing from folk elements from all corners of the world, thereby creating a universal, global musical language that transcends cultural and geographical distance. Pharoah Sanders' music will be presented by the ensemble Pradziad, expanded for this occasion into a sextet.
Pradziad is a Wrocław quartet presenting music rich with references to ethnic motifs, as well as past and future jazz traditions. Dissonance and harmony in the ensemble's work do not conflict but complement each other. The compositions are unhurried and economical in their means, yet flow smoothly in changing directions. The ensemble originally emerged as a contemporary response to the classic sound of spiritual jazz, employing the dark atmosphere characteristic of Polish music from the 1960s.
