📍 FORUM Gdańsk Square
Following the ceremonial opening, the square beneath FORUM Gdańsk will be inhabited by characters and images from the world of Franz Kafka. The performance evokes figures and situations from his works - "In the Penal Colony", "The Metamorphosis", and "The Trial" - and confronts them with random street audiences. The creators aim to show that Kafka's worlds are not hermetic but speak to universal situations. The performance is dedicated to "all the starving in the world, beings unworthy of life, human waste, unnecessary ballast of a healthy society".
Theatre of the Eighth Day is a Polish theatre group founded in 1964 by students of Polish philology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Today the "Eighth Day" ensemble is a legendary collective, a symbol of engaged theatre that became one of the leading groups of its movement in Europe.
Organizers: City of Gdańsk, Gdańsk Archipelago of Culture
Partners: Forum Gdańsk, Institute of Urban Culture
The project was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund.
