Gdańsk Jazz Nights: Michał Bąk Quartetto plus + Vilnius Residency Finale in Gdańsk
Teatr Leśny w Gdańsku, Poland
Michał Bąk Quartetto plus is a Gdańsk-based jazz ensemble led by double bassist Michał Bąk, drawing inspiration from classical music, early and contemporary improvised music. The artist's previous albums ("Quartetto", "Fortress") referenced baroque and later classical and contemporary music - the ensemble continues this approach, enriching it with new experiences and piano. As the musicians themselves say: "In combination with Debussyian impressionism and contemporary jazz, we would like to show the diversity and beauty of music, as well as its spiritual aspect."
Lineup: Michał Bąk (double bass/compositions), Michał Ciesielski (piano), Jakub Klemensiewicz (saxophone), Maksymilian Kreft (drums).
The second concert of the evening is the finale of the Vilnius artistic residency in Gdańsk. Over two days, artists from both cities met to exchange experiences and seek new connections between contemporary trends in Polish and Lithuanian music. Five musicians will present a semi-improvised concert session resulting from their collaborative exploration: Patrycja Wybrańczyk, Rafał Poniatowicz, Aleksandra Mularczyk, Mėta Gabrielė Pelegrimaitė-Kaupinė and Kazimieras Jušinskas.
Tickets: 40 PLN in advance, 50 PLN on the day of the concert. Passes are also available: weekend (28.08-29.08) - 65 PLN; two weekends (31.07-01.08 and 28.08-29.08) - 120 PLN; FULL FOREST FUN for all Forest Theatre events in the 2026 season - 210 PLN (limited, available until end of June 2026 - includes four days of Gdańsk Jazz Nights, two PsychoDaily concerts, three Alternatywny Las concerts and two silent film screenings with live music).
