KARNETY - 15th INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL HOMMAGE À KIEŚLOWSKI

The 15th edition of the Hommage à Kieślowski festival takes place 27-30 August 2026 under the theme "Man at the Boundary". This year's programme marks a double jubilee: fifteen years of the festival coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of Krzysztof Kieślowski's death. The edition has received the Honorary Patronage of the European Film Academy - a reference to the first EFA award, which the film "A Short Film About Killing" received in 1988.

The organisers interpret the theme "Man at the Boundary" broadly - as an existential, social and spiritual experience. The programme features films about characters at a moment of transformation: "Tatarak" by Andrzej Wajda, "The Spool of Time" by Andrei Konchalovsky and "Four Nights with Anna" by Jerzy Skolimowski. A separate section comprises Polish-Czech Film Dialogues with a retrospective of Czech classic Zbyněk Brynych, including the films "Transport from Paradise" and "The Fifth is[...]". The programme also includes a cinematic tribute to the Quay Brothers and the animation "Deer", created based on an unrealised screenplay idea by Kieślowski from his studies at the Film School in Łódź.

During the festival, a ceremonial unveiling of the Treasures of European Film Culture plaque will take place on the building of Cinema Zdrowie - the Archive of Krzysztof Kieślowski's Work, developed by the In Situ Foundation in Sokołowsko, has been accepted by the European Film Academy onto the prestigious list of Treasures of European Film Culture.
