Born in Ivory Coast to Malian parents, Fatoumata Diawara grew up between Bamako and Paris, shaping a sound that runs from ancient Wassoulou rhythms through jazz and electronic pop. Her three studio albums and high-profile collaborations with Gorillaz, Disclosure, and Damon Albarn have made her one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary African music.
