When ALA.NI began writing Sunshine Music, her third album, Paris in winter 2023 was in full grip, striking with the force of bitter frost. She composed under layers of blankets, drawing warmth not from her surroundings but from memories of Caribbean sun she had recently left behind.

Born in Britain and creating in Paris, the vocalist and producer debuted in 2016 with the minimalist, soulful You & I. Four years later, on the album ACCA, she experimented with dense vocal textures and beatboxing, collaborating with artists including Iggy Pop.

Sunshine Music is preceded by more than two years of travel to the land of her ancestors - through Barbados, Grenada, and Jamaica. ALA.NI balances here between nostalgia and modernity, between storytelling and building atmosphere.
