The Devil and the Girl
Teatr Nowy im. Izabelli Cywińskiej w Poznaniu, Poznań, Poland
"My name is Sinéad O'Connor. I deserve it. I deserve to be treated with respect. I deserve not to be treated like garbage. I deserve to be heard. I deserve not to be hurt. I am a woman. I have something to offer" - she wrote in an open letter in 1993.
When this fragile, bald girl with wide eyes tore up a photograph of the Pope on live television, she declared war on herself - a war that cost her career and mental health: "My story is the story of countless millions of children from families who were harmed for money in the name of Jesus Christ".
A play based on a text by acclaimed dramatist Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk, commissioned by the National Theatre, directed by the multi-award-winning Marcin Liber.
