Ladies and Hussars - Teatr Klasyki Polskiej
Cinema Cultural Centre - Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Poland
"Ladies and Hussars" is Fredro's comedy about the collision of two worlds: the orderly, masculine realm of soldiers on leave and the vibrant reality of women who unexpectedly take over the Major's house. The production by Teatr Klasyki Polskiej emphasizes the psychological depth of its characters and brings a contemporary resonance to Fredro's wit.
The director describes her vision: "My goal is to reveal the authenticity of these characters - the Major, the Rotmistrz, and the sisters are not mere figures from a comedy, but flesh-and-blood people driven by passions and the small absurdities we find within ourselves. Because as Fredro teaches us: against the strategy of the heart, no army stands a chance."
