The Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin is the leading cultural institution of the West Pomeranian region, with an orchestra tradition dating back to 1948. Since 2014 it has been housed in a modern building designed by the Barcelona studio Barozzi/Veiga, which received the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2015. The venue features a symphonic hall and a chamber hall, hosting symphonic, chamber and jazz concerts as well as educational programmes for children.
