Front Line Assembly
Bill Leeb founded the electro-industrial band in 1986 after leaving Skinny Puppy, the industrial group formed in 1982. Many fans and critics regard Skinny Puppy as one of the key originators of the "electro-industrial" sound. Front Line Assembly started as an experimental side project before growing into a full-time band.
Their debut album came out in 1987 on KK, an independent Belgian label, recorded on a shoestring budget - a constraint that shaped the format, landing on an eight-track cassette system with two- or four-track cuts.
The albums "Corrosion" and "Disorder" followed in 1988, released by Third Mind rather than the Canadian label Nettwerk. Both records were later reissued with three bonus tracks on the compilation "Convergence" that same year. Together with "Gashed Senses and Crossfire", they form the heart of what is now known as "The Wax Trax Years".
In Vienna, FLA will perform a set of their early material. Rhys Fulber opens the night.
