The Großes Festspielhaus is one of Austria's most prestigious concert and opera venues, opened in 1960 and built into the Mönchsberg rock face in the heart of Salzburg's Old Town. Designed by architect Clemens Holzmeister, it seats around 2,170 guests and serves as the main stage for the world-famous Salzburg Festival (Salzburger Festspiele), hosting grand opera productions and orchestral concerts.
