Schloss Esterházy is a grand baroque palace in the heart of Eisenstadt, the capital of Burgenland. Originally a medieval fortress, it was transformed into its current form in the 17th–18th centuries for the powerful Esterházy princely family. The palace is closely associated with composer Joseph Haydn, who worked for the Esterházys and conducted in the ornate Haydnsaal. Today it hosts concerts, exhibitions, and cultural events.
