About

Al Di Meola (born 1954, Jersey City, NJ) is an American guitarist and composer of Italian-American descent, whose work spans jazz fusion, flamenco, Latin jazz, and world music. He rose to prominence in 1974 as a member of Chick Corea's Return to Forever, then built a celebrated solo career from 1976 onward - marked by technical precision, complex rhythmic structures, and a restless curiosity about musical traditions from Argentina to the Middle East. A Grammy Award winner and Berklee College of Music alumnus, he has recorded over 20 albums as a leader and collaborated with John McLaughlin, Paco de Lucía, Stanley Clarke, Paul Simon, and many others.
