Andrea Bocelli (born 22 September 1958 in Lajatico, Tuscany) is an Italian tenor who has sold over 90 million records worldwide, making him the best-selling classical solo artist in history. Blind since the age of 12, he rose to international fame in 1994 after winning the newcomers' section of the Sanremo Music Festival, and his 1997 album Romanza remains the best-selling Italian-language album of all time. His repertoire spans Puccini and Verdi arias, sacred works, and pop crossover ballads, performed with full orchestra in arenas and stadiums across the world.
