Ben Folds (born 1966, Greensboro, North Carolina) is an American singer-songwriter and pianist who rose to prominence as the frontman of the guitar-free piano trio Ben Folds Five, whose 1997 hit "Brick" became an alternative radio staple. His solo career spans six studio albums and extensive collaborations with symphony orchestras worldwide; he served for eight years as the first-ever Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., resigning in February 2025.
