About
Bill Bruford (born 17 May 1949, Sevenoaks, Kent) is an English drummer and percussionist who co-founded Yes in 1968 and went on to play with King Crimson across three of its incarnations, as well as Genesis, U.K., and his own jazz-fusion group Earthworks. Known for his command of complex time signatures and his pioneering use of electronic percussion, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of Yes in 2017. He retired from performing in 2009 and earned a PhD in music from the University of Surrey in 2016, but returned to active playing in 2022 as part of the Pete Roth Trio.
