Black Sun Empire are a Dutch drum and bass trio from Utrecht, formed in 1997 by Rene Verdult and brothers Micha and Milan Heyboer. Known for their dark neurofunk and techstep sound, they have released six studio albums and run three independent labels - Black Sun Empire Recordings, Obsessions, and Blackout Music NL - making them one of the most influential forces in European drum and bass.
