About

Cat Power is the stage name of American singer-songwriter Chan (Charlyn) Marshall, born in Atlanta in 1972. Since the mid-1990s she has released music that moves between indie rock, folk, blues and soul, and her raw emotional delivery has made her one of the most distinctive voices of her generation. Her seventh album, The Greatest (2006), recorded with Memphis soul musicians, won the Shortlist Music Prize - the first time a female artist had taken that honour. She has since released Jukebox (2008), Sun (2012), Wanderer (2018) and the live album Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert (2023).
