Cat Power - The Greatest Tour | Warszawa

Twenty years have passed since the release of "The Greatest" - one of Cat Power's greatest successes. To mark this occasion, the artist will embark on a world tour, performing at the only concert in our country on October 14 at Warsaw's Stodoła club.

Chan Marshall, who performs under the pseudonym Cat Power, is one of the most important songwriters of the turn of the millennium, whose work paved the way for artists like Mitski, Snail Mail, and Angel Olsen. The unique character of her music is reflected in albums such as "What Would the Community Think" (1996), which captures the influence of New York's experimental rock scene, and the more folk, blues, and soul-oriented "Moon Pix" (1998) and "The Greatest" (2006). With this last album, Marshall reached new heights - it was the first record she composed entirely on her own, and it stood out from the rest from the moment of its release. The numbers confirm this - the album reached number 34 on the Billboard 200 chart, made it into the top albums of 2006 (Rolling Stone ranked it at number 6), appeared in many reviews of the first decade of the 21st century (including #26 on Rolling Stone's list), and Chan became the first woman in history to be honored with the prestigious Shortlist Music Prize.

Cat Power will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of this material with a world tour and the release of the EP "Redux", which will be released on January 23 by Domino Recording Company. It will consist of 3 compositions: covers of "Try Me" and "Nothing Compares 2 U" from the repertoires of James Brown and Prince respectively, as well as a new version of "Could We" - a composition from "The Greatest", arranged in the style of Chan's concert performances with the Dirty Delta Blues band from the time of The Greatest Tour.
