Daniel Caesar (born Ashton Dumar Norwill Simmonds, April 5, 1995, Toronto) is a Canadian R&B and soul singer-songwriter of Bajan and Jamaican descent, raised in Oshawa, Ontario on gospel and church music. His 2017 debut album Freudian brought him international recognition and a Grammy win for Best R&B Performance ("Best Part" feat. H.E.R.); his fourth album Son of Spergy (2025) debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200 and topped the US R&B chart. He blends neo-soul, gospel and alternative R&B into a sound that is both deeply personal and widely influential.
Daniel Caesar announced his first headline arena tour, the 'Son of Spergy Tour', spanning Asia and North America across 30 dates from May to August 2026.
At the 2026 JUNO Awards (March 29, Hamilton), Caesar won three awards: Contemporary R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and the International Achievement Award.
Son of Spergy, Caesar's fourth studio album, was released on October 24, 2025 via Republic Records and debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200, topping the US R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Caesar contributed vocals and co-writing credits to Tyler, the Creator's album Chromakopia (October 2024), which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Caesar returned to NPR's Tiny Desk, performing with a piano and a 12-piece choir in support of Son of Spergy.
