PHRE Festival: Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek + Cocanha + Katscha
PHRE Festival brings three world-music acts to Munich's Import Export: Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, Cocanha, and Katscha.
Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek are a Berlin-Hamburg-based band founded in 2014, led by Hamburg-born singer and bağlama player Derya Yıldırım (b. 1993), whose Turkish parents shaped her deep roots in Anatolian folk music. The group - completed by French musicians Graham Mushnik and Antonin Voyant and South African drummer Helen Wells - blends Anatolian folk with psychedelia, soul and jazz, singing exclusively in Turkish. Their 2025 album Yarın Yoksa, produced by Leon Michels and released on New York's Big Crown Records, marks a major step in their international reach.
Big Crown Records released Yarın Yoksa (Instrumentals), the full instrumental version of the band's 2025 album, in August 2025.
The album Yarın Yoksa was released on March 14, 2025 via Big Crown Records, produced by Leon Michels (El Michels Affair).
The band performed at Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall on March 13, 2025, with Ensemble Resonanz as special guests.
Derya Yıldırım's film score for the documentary Die Möllner Briefe premiered at the Berlinale in February 2025.
The band signed with New York's Big Crown Records in 2024 and recorded Yarın Yoksa at The Diamond Mine Studio in Queens with producer Leon Michels.
😴 Nothing scheduled with this artist in the near future.
