About

Ein deutsches Requiem, op. 45, by Johannes Brahms is a large-scale work for soloists, chorus and orchestra, completed in 1868. Rather than following the Latin Mass for the Dead, Brahms drew on German biblical texts to create a piece centred on consoling the living. It stands as one of the cornerstones of the Romantic choral repertoire.
