About

Eivind Aarset (born 23 March 1961, Norway) is a guitarist and composer whose work sits at the intersection of nu jazz, ambient and electroacoustic music. He builds his sound through dense layers of effects and live electronics, treating the guitar as a textural instrument rather than a lead voice. Beyond his solo records on Jazzland and ECM, he has collaborated with Nils Petter Molvaer, Jon Hassell, Jan Garbarek, David Sylvian and Ray Charles, among many others. His debut album Électronique Noire was described by the New York Times as one of the best electric jazz albums since Miles Davis.
