Frank Schöbel (born 11 December 1942 in Leipzig) is a German schlager singer, songwriter, and entertainer who became the best-selling recording artist of the GDR - his 1985 Christmas album "Weihnachten in Familie" sold 1.7 million copies, making it the top-selling LP in East German history. He broke through to West German audiences in 1971 with "Wie ein Stern", becoming the first East German pop singer invited to perform on West German television. Now in his ninth decade, he continues to tour actively and received the lifetime achievement award at the ARD Eurovision show "Schlagerchampions" in January 2025.
