Gitte Hænning (born 29 June 1946 in Århus, Denmark) is a Danish singer and actress who first stepped onto a stage at age eight alongside her father and went on to become one of the most recognisable Schlager names in Germany and Scandinavia. Her 1963 German number-one single "Ich will 'nen Cowboy als Mann" sold over a million copies, and she accumulated five number-one hits across three countries. Beyond pop and Schlager, she has worked in jazz, musical theatre, film and television - a range that has kept her on stage for more than seven decades.
