About

Hedvig Mollestad Trio is a Norwegian jazz-rock group founded in 2009 by guitarist Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen (born 1982 in Ålesund), completed by bassist Ellen Brekken and drummer Ivar Loe Bjørnstad. Signed to Oslo's Rune Grammofon label, the trio has built eight albums' worth of instrumental music that fuses heavy riffing, progressive rock and free improvisation - earning coverage in outlets from The New York Times to Mojo. Their sound is often shortlisted alongside Mahavishnu Orchestra and Black Sabbath, and Rolling Stone called it "avant-guitar adventure with an exuberant sense of occasion."
