Il Giardino Armonico ("The Garden of Harmony") is an Italian period-instrument ensemble founded in Milan in 1985 by Giovanni Antonini and Luca Pianca, with Antonini leading it as conductor since 1989. Specialising in 17th- and 18th-century repertoire, the group has earned a reputation for its energetic, historically informed playing and has won all the major recording prizes, including Grammy, Gramophone and Diapason d'Or awards. Alongside a celebrated discography on Teldec, Decca and Alpha Classics, the ensemble collaborates with soloists such as Cecilia Bartoli, Isabelle Faust and Patricia Kopatchinskaja, and since 2014 has been working through the complete Haydn symphonies in the long-running Haydn2032 project.
Il Giardino Armonico released Haydn2032 Vol. 19: Trauer on Alpha Classics (May 2026), marking the ensemble's 40th anniversary.
The ensemble is scheduled for a summer 2026 European tour including concerts in London, Ludwigsburg, Ossiach, Engelhartszell and Kremsmünster.
Il Giardino Armonico is booked at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and Die Glocke Bremen in late August 2026.
The ensemble released a Locatelli album (violin concertos and concerti grossi) in August 2023, which won the Diapason d'Or.
A collaboration album with mandolinist Avi Avital on Deutsche Grammophon was awarded the Opus Klassik in 2023.
