Jarka Kubsova is a Hamburg-based author of Czech origin who writes in German. She came to wider attention with her novel Marschlande and returns to Czech themes in her new book Im Licht des neuen Tages (S. Fischer), in which two women's fates intertwine in a Czech forest, touching on suppressed memory and personal history.
