John Williams (born February 8, 1932, Queens, New York) is an American composer and conductor whose film scores have shaped the sound of Hollywood for over six decades. His partnership with Steven Spielberg - spanning more than 50 years and 30 films - produced some of cinema's most recognizable music, from Jaws and Star Wars to Schindler's List and Indiana Jones. With 54 Oscar nominations and five wins, he holds the record as the most-nominated living person in Academy Awards history, and has also collected 27 Grammy Awards and seven BAFTAs.
