Max Raabe & Palast Orchester perform in Munich. Classic shanties and songs in the orchestra's distinctive style.
Max Raabe (born 1962 in Lünen) is a German baritone and bandleader who founded the Palast Orchester in Berlin in 1986, dedicating it to the dance and cabaret music of the Weimar Republic era. He broke through to wider audiences with the 1992 hit "Kein Schwein ruft mich an" and the 1994 film "Der bewegte Mann", and has since performed to sold-out houses at Carnegie Hall and concert venues across Europe, the Americas and Asia. Alongside the classic 1920s/30s repertoire, Raabe writes original songs and delivers deadpan covers of modern pop hits - a combination that has made him one of Germany's most distinctive live acts.
