Mikhail Glinka

About

Mikhail Glinka (1804-1857) is widely regarded as the father of Russian classical music. He composed two operas that shaped the Russian musical tradition: A Life for the Tsar and Ruslan and Lyudmila. The latter, based on Pushkin's poem, remains a staple of the operatic repertoire.
