An opera by Mikhail Glinka performed at the Hamburg State Opera.

About: Mikhail Glinka

Mikhail Glinka (1804-1857) is widely regarded as the father of Russian classical music. He composed two operas that shaped the Russian musical tradition: A Life for the Tsar and Ruslan and Lyudmila. The latter, based on Pushkin's poem, remains a staple of the operatic repertoire.

It is home to the Hamburg Ballet and hosts a rich programme of opera and ballet performances throughout the season.
