Mother's Finest is an American funk rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia around 1970, built around the married vocal duo of Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy and Glenn "Doc" Murdock. Described by Classic Rock magazine as "Sly and The Family Stone-meets-Led Zeppelin," the interracial group fused heavy guitars with soul and funk at a time when that combination had no name - and in doing so laid groundwork for funk metal and influenced bands from Living Colour to Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their 1978 Rockpalast TV appearance in Germany gave them a cult following in Europe that has never faded, and they were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2011.
