Uriah Heep - Live 2026 - special guest: Mother's Finest

URIAH HEEP rank among the early and most successful hard rock acts with over 40 million albums sold - alongside Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Clear guitar melodies and cascading vocal harmonies became their hallmark from the start.

In 1969, vocalist David Byron and guitarist Mick Box founded the band initially as Spice, before renaming themselves Uriah Heep after a character from Charles Dickens' novel "David Copperfield". Their 1970 debut album "Very Eavy, Very 'Umble" already showcased what the band stood for: grand melodies, multi-part vocals, timeless songs. "Gypsy", "Bird of Prey" and "Walking in Your Shadow" quickly brought them international recognition. The breakthrough across Europe came in 1971 with the album "Salisbury" and the rock classic "Lady in Black" - in Germany, they became true rock icons.

Their greatest successes followed in the early 1970s with "Demons and Wizards", "The Magician's Birthday" and "Sweet Freedom", which achieved gold status in the US. Characteristic were the multi-part vocals - the nickname "Beach Boys of heavy metal" stuck - along with the distinctive use of Hammond organ and Mick Box's wah-wah-drenched guitar. In 1987, Uriah Heep became the first Western rock band to perform in Moscow.

After a decline in the late 1970s, the 1982 album "Abominog" marked a successful comeback. From the mid-1980s onwards, keyboardist Phil Lanzon and vocalist Bernie Shaw joined the band - both have shaped Uriah Heep's identity ever since. With them came albums like "Sea of Light" (1995), "Into the Wild" (2011), "Outsider" (2014) and "Living the Dream" (2018, produced by Jay Ruston). In January 2023, their latest album "Chaos & Colour" was released, reaching number 4 on the German charts.
