Nadezhda Mandelstam

Nadezhda Mandelstam (1899–1980) was a Russian memoirist and the wife of poet Osip Mandelstam. After his arrest and death in a Soviet labour camp, she preserved his poetry from memory and later published it. Her memoir Hope Against Hope is a landmark testimony to Stalinist terror.
