Max Raabe & Palast Orchester - Hummel streicheln
Max Raabe & Palast Orchester perform in Munich. Classic shanties and songs in the orchestra's distinctive style.
Palast Orchester is a Berlin-based big band founded in 1985 by baritone singer Max Raab (born Matthias Otto, 1962), dedicated to faithfully reviving the dance and popular music of Weimar-era Germany. The ensemble shot to wider fame with the 1992 hit "Kein Schwein ruft mich an", which appeared on the soundtrack of the film "Der bewegte Mann", and has since performed at venues from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Admiralspalast in Berlin. Alongside period originals, the orchestra covers modern pop songs in a 1920s-30s arrangement style, and Max Raabe writes new material that blends dry wit with the elegance of the golden era.
Max Raabe released the EP "Komm Mal Her" in April 2026 as a preview of an upcoming new pop album he is currently working on.
In December 2025, the ensemble announced a brand-new concert programme for 2027, with tickets already on sale.
Due to high demand, additional 2026 dates were added to the "Hummel streicheln" tour.
The ensemble announced the death of long-serving trombonist and violist Jörn Ranke, a member since 1988, following a tragic accident.
Max Raabe performed at the German state ceremony marking 75 years of the Basic Law (Grundgesetz), accompanied by the Berliner Philharmoniker.
