About

Pestilence is a Dutch death metal band from Enschede, founded in 1986 and active - with two hiatuses - to this day. Driven by guitarist-vocalist Patrick Mameli as its sole constant member, the band helped define European technical death metal with albums like Consuming Impulse (1989) and Testimony of the Ancients (1991). They are widely counted among technical death metal's 'big four' alongside Death, Atheist, and Cynic, and have released ten studio albums to date.
