Piero Masztalerz (born 1970 in Lübeck) is a Hamburg-based German cartoonist and comedian who draws for outlets including Der Spiegel and the satirical magazine Eulenspiegel. He is best known for blending cartoon art, animation and stand-up into a single stage format - his characters talk back to him live on screen. In 2025 he swept three major German awards: the St. Ingberter Pfanne, first place at the Deutscher Karikaturenpreis, and third place at the Deutscher Cartoonpreis.
Piero Masztalerz won the Deutscher Karikaturenpreis 2025 gold award ('Geflügelter Bleistift in Gold', worth €4,000) for his caricature 'Abwarten', presented at Theater Bremen on 2 November 2025.
In 2025 Masztalerz also received the St. Ingberter Pfanne (1st place) and third place at the Deutscher Cartoonpreis, making it a triple-award year.
His stage show 'Halt die Fresse, Rapunzel!' continued touring across Germany and Austria through 2025 and into 2026, with dates confirmed in Berlin (BKA Theater) through at least September 2026.
Masztalerz launched the animated series 'Just a Thought', which went viral on social media.
