Plácido Domingo (born 21 January 1941 in Madrid) is a Spanish opera singer, conductor, and arts administrator whose career spans more than six decades and over 150 roles - a breadth unmatched in opera history. He rose to global fame as one of the Three Tenors alongside Luciano Pavarotti and José Carreras, and later reinvented himself as a baritone after 2009. Beyond performing, he founded the Operalia singing competition in 1993 and has won 14 Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards.
