About

Rebekka Bakken (born 4 April 1970 in Lier, near Oslo) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer whose three-octave voice moves freely between folk, jazz and pop - though she firmly resists any single genre label. After studying philosophy and relocating to New York in the mid-1990s, she built her sound through collaborations with Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel and German pianist Julia Hülsmann before launching her solo career with The Art of How to Fall (2003). Her albums have earned multiple German Jazz Awards, Gold Records in Germany and Austria, and two Amadeus Austrian Music Awards, making her one of the most decorated Scandinavian artists in the German-speaking world.
