Richard Galliano (born 12 December 1950 in Cannes) is a French accordionist and composer of Italian heritage who transformed the accordion's place in contemporary music. Inspired by Astor Piazzolla to revive French musette as a jazz idiom - his so-called "New Musette" - he went on to collaborate with Charlie Haden, Wynton Marsalis, Jan Garbarek and many others. He has recorded over 70 albums under his own name and is the only accordionist to record for Deutsche Grammophon.
Galliano released 'New Viaggio', a reissue of his landmark 1993 album 'Viaggio', remastered with bonus tracks and a new touring lineup.
Mare Nostrum IV, the fourth album by the trio of Galliano, Paolo Fresu and Jan Lundgren, was released on ACT Music on 28 March 2025.
