Sportfreunde Stiller are a German indie rock trio from Germering near Munich, active since 1996, consisting of Peter "Balboa" Brugger (guitar/vocals), Rüdiger Linhof (bass), and Florian Weber (drums). They built a loyal following through energetic live shows and a string of German-language albums before breaking through nationally with the 2006 World Cup anthem "'54, '74, '90, 2006", which topped the German charts. Their album La Bum (2007) reached number one in Germany, and they have been nominated five times for Best German Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Sportfreunde Stiller launched their "30 wunderbaren Jahren" anniversary tour, running from May to July 2026 across Germany and Austria.
The band released "Happy Birthday!", a new album marking their 30th anniversary.
Musikexpress reported that Sportfreunde Stiller released their 2004 album Burli on vinyl for the first time, following the 20th anniversary edition.
The limited vinyl edition of Burli (1,111 copies) re-entered the German album charts at position 44, twenty years after the original release.
After a five-year studio break, the band returned with their album "Jeder nur ein X", featuring 15 tracks.
