SPORTFREUNDE STILLER - 30 wunderbaren Jahren
Park der Gärten, Bad Zwischenahn, Germany
RÜDE
How do you look back on thirty years of band history? From a distance, the view is like gazing out over a vast jungle of deep life. For us Sportfreunde, it's less populated by venomous snakes and dangerous crawlies, more by friendly jungle creatures. Devoted to life, always searching for stories and discoveries. Behind almost every day on tour lie funny moments, joyful embraces, great celebrations and ever-growing stories that take deeper root with each passing year. Albums and tours become high plateaus of memory; parties, sometimes decades later, grow into mammoth tales of the "Do you remember back then?" variety. Brotherhoods, friendships, tender little plants or just plain thick-skinned potatoes. In every corner, every fork of a branch, hangs the scent and beauty of a life well celebrated. Sometimes a painful search, often a happy resolution.
What would be hubris for one person becomes routine for a band. Standing on stage while tens of thousands sing a song that tumbled out of our fingers in a grimy rehearsal room - no problem, that's just normal. One guy rides home on a scooter, we ride home in a rolling house - no problem, that's just normal. Music becomes a backstage pass into the hearts of strangers who somehow become friends - it keeps happening. That stays beautiful, and you never quite get used to it. Being in a band is something I'd recommend to anyone. With or without music, it doesn't matter; the main thing is to throw yourself into it together, not alone!
FLO
It all started with the "Wunderbaren Jahre". With the time when self-discovery broke through in rebellion, defiance, coolness, mod-shuffle and wandering. And with the idea of putting three not-quite-similar musical tastes into one band context. Before the first count-in in the spartan rehearsal room in 1996, the spirit of Jack Kerouac was floating around, along with Big Muff distortion, some school in Germering and definitely the idea of enormous volume...
